Kent Monnier

How we met:

I don’t want to sound rude but I seriously don’t remember the first time we met. Sorry man. Maybe it was due to the fact that I was just an infant…(Kent is my uncle and is a LOT older than I am)

Three things I appreciate about Kent:

1. Kent is the definition of handy man. He has taught many things that I have been able to use again and again in life. Things from changing a spark plug to changing out brakes, building a rope swing to making a counter top level. If I were stranded on an island and had to build a permanent home from scratch I’d like to have Kent there.

2. Kent is a fisherman and a good one at that. I miss our days fishing at the beach and can’t wait to do it again one day.

3. Kent is an adventurer. I admire the fact that Kent gets passionate about something and takes it on. There is not anything that is too big or unachievable in his eyes. That’s a good trait to have.

My favorite memory of Kent:

Kent and I used to wrestle all the time, from as far back as I could remember. And Kent always whooped me and shamefully got me to cry out “Uncle!” on many occasions. I’m still waiting for that rematch, now though, Kent. Whenever you are ready…

Although wrestling was fun and a cherished memory of my childhood, I think my fondest memories of Kent was the few months when I would pick him up for church on Sunday mornings and we’d ride together. I have some good memories of our conversations and looking back that was just a sweet time.

I love you, brother. I hope all is good out in the good ole west and that you and Josh are taking good care of each other. Your family misses you guys. I miss you guys. Hopefully see you soon.

We’ve all had issues in our life and Kent’s had his. Despite these issues I know Kent has a great heart and would do anything to help others out. I also know that Kent loves his family. All of us!!!
    Short story about Kent;
One time Mike (Kent’s brother) and I dressed Kent in a snow suit and hooded parka with goggles and made him run back and forth between two trees and took turns shooting him with a BB gun. He was hilarious. Sorry Ma!!!

    TOOOEEEE!!!!

Kento is one of my awesome uncles that I have been blessed with. He is also the Master of the ‘Fing Foe’. If you don’t know, you’d be better off not asking. Kento has always had the ability to make me laugh/cry when putting me in different submission holds. He can also climb a rope faster than any Marine. Kent can hold his breath like a fish. However, I will always be taller than him. :)

hmmm – little brother – indeed God’s gifting in Kent – the skill of his hands…. He can do and make anything and do it well. Always has. And while I would have clearly protected you from the BBs had I know – I would also have made YOU say “uncle” as you pinned down my kids…. HA!

I pray you are enjoying the beauty of the west and that God is showing Himself to you in ways you’ve never seen!

    Love ya,

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Uncle Kent never pinned me down. He was always kind and would never push me higher then I wanted to go on the rope swing……okay, yeah, he did. I owe the fact that I have no fear of heights to Uncle Kent! He wouldn’t let me off that dang swing until I went a little bit higher and a little bit closer to the big tree. I love that Kent was always ready to play with his nieces and nephews when we would be together. There was never a dull moment for us Saul and Monnier kids with awesome uncles like Kent and Mike and my dad!

The one really great thing about Kent to me, since I’ve only known him for around 7 years, is how much he loves to play with my kids. Down at the beach or out in the backyard, Kent loves playing with Johnny and Ruth. And to a mom, that is just the best :)
